Black & White Oklahoma Wedding Photography
There is just something about black and white wedding photography that I love so much. When we are photographing an Oklahoma wedding ever shot is taken with the end product in mind. With so much technology available to wedding photographers and a new photographer popping up every day its easy for over editing to happen. Our goal is to always be timeless. In twenty years when our bride and groom are showing their wedding photographs to their children I don’t want the kids to laugh about a funny pose or strange photoshop trick that’s not in style any more. I want them to evoke the same emotion that their parents felt twenty years ago when they first saw them.
Black and white wedding photography is a tricky thing. It’s not always warranted, it’s often over done, & it is sometimes used as a one click emotion button. There is nothing I hate more than a one click black and white photo. Its easy to just click a button pulling all of the color out but you also pull the depth out when you do that. To create a black and white image its a process that changes the levels of shadow, highlight, and temperature to create a rich creaming monochromatic effect. Its some of my favorite work we do in Oklahoma wedding photography. It’s not everyones favorite so as we edit I always try to do something very similar in color for our couples to ensure they have just what they want since everyone connects to a photograph differently. When we take an image its with the thought of what to do with that picture in the editing room so its just so satisfying to me when a black and white comes out even better than I imagined it. For this post I thought I would just go through and share a few of my favorite black and whites from years past. Its just a tiny slice but still fun. Thanks for reading!
